  • How do I filter by data in columns?
    I have a table with the names of students and I want to tell the student absence days only
    Meaning that
    To work for filter names to select specific name this absence shows only name

    Note that the names of the students in the ranks while days dates in columns 

    I want to specify days of absence with the name

  • Excel can only filter rows, not columns.

    Do you want to count the number of days each student was absent?

    Let's say the dates are in columns C to W.

    For the student in row 2: =COUNTIF($C2:$W2,"A")

    This formula can be filled down.
