KinectUserViewer Not Showing RRS feed

  • Question

  • So im trying to get the KinectUserViewer to show up but I am not sure what im doing wrong. This is my first time working with Kinect and am still quite new to xaml. When I run this, nothing shows up at all besides a white screen. I can engage and get the hand cursor but no user viewer shows up at all.

    <Window x:Class="inkCanvas.MainWindow"
            xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
            xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
            xmlns:k="http://schemas.microsoft.com/kinect/2014"
        Title="MainWindow" Height="558.096" Width="620.554" KeyDown="Window_KeyDown_1">
        <k:KinectRegion x:Name="kinectRegion">
            <k:KinectUserViewer Height="Auto" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Width="Auto"/>
        </k:KinectRegion>
    </Window>

  • Have you also set the controls KinectRegion object, see controls basics-wpf sample?

    KinectRegion.SetKinectRegion(this, kinectRegion);

    If you have, you may just need to reset the tracking, by holding your hand in-front of the sensor for a second, to ensure you get a lock-on to the user. You can run the body basics sample as another process to ensure you are tracking.

  • Thanks! I missed that when looking at the control basics sample!

  • I have also noticed that the grip animation does not happen when I close my hand. Is there anything I need to do to get that to work?

  • run the IR basics sample and ensure you are getting a greyscale image to appear. If you are running an NVidia GPU, you have to update your drivers to the latest version. A lot of the computer vision used in the tech is based on IR and/or depth. Body will mainly be depth segmentation where hand state/face will be based on IR and/or color(face)
