How to add a meta data for mutiple uploading documents?. RRS feed

  • Dear All,

    i am tring to upload multiple documents and after that i need add the meta data to the all the documents. when we upload multiple documents it is not redirecting to the meta data(content type) page. Please tell me how to do it.

  • Hi Swapna,

    No OOTB way, you need to use code to update data. Can you consider datasheet view to update metadata after uploading all files but it would be manual process.

    Second, You can create event handler which will update the data after uploading all the files. If metadata is same for all files then handler is good approach.

    Finally you can look for custom webpart which will allow you to upload multiple files with metadata. Here is good links for your ref:

  • I could not answer this any better, in all likelihood, you will have a need for different metadata for the multiple docs, so the web part approach is probably what you want, use a grid view control that indexes against the uploaded documents after they get added and update them with metadata fileds
