Why is Microsoft not updating SSMS via WSUS past 17.4? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone know why or when Microsoft plans to update SSMS via WSUS past 17.4?  17.9 is now available and no updates have come via WSUS since March i believe.  Maybe related, does anyone have any idea how to update Visual Studio past VS 2013 via WSUS?

As for VS update, I thought they did away with VS updates via WSUS.

  • Hi DK78,

The updates after SQL Server Management Studio 17.4 have not be released in WSUS. These updates in WSUS are released by SQL Server Management Studio Product Team. So I will suggest you contacting the SQL Server Management Studio Product Team for more specific information via the Microsoft feedback website. https://feedback.azure.com/forums/908035-sql-server

As for the updates of Visual Studio, I will also recommend you to get more information from the Microsoft Visual Studio Product Team.

    Best Regards,

    Emily
