error DEP0800 when trying to deploy to remote machine (surface pro)

    Question

  • I get this error:
    Error    1    Error : DEP0800 : The required framework "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.0\ExtensionSDKs\Microsoft.VCLibs\11.0\.\AppX\Debug\x86\Microsoft.VCLibs.x86.Debug.11.00.appx" failed to install.
error 0x80511002: Opening the package from location file:///C:/Users/Michael/AppxLayouts/3224ed49-6c4b-4f1e-a9e3-c14b355e8fd1VS.Debug_x86.Michael/vs.temp.remoteframeworks/Microsoft.VCLibs.x86.Debug.11.00.appx failed.    JapaneseHub2

The remote debugging monitor indicates a connection. I followed the file path and verified that the file does exist.

  • I found the problem. It turns out that I forgot that I installed the x64 version on the surface pro and was debugging the x86 version. doh!

  • Seem like a VS problem, nt a programming problem.  I'm moving to the tools forum.

NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined objects and unknown namespaces.
