  • Hi,

I've got a Hyper-V host with currently 1 VM running on it. On the Hyper-V Host I've activated a Windows Server 2016 Standard License.

According to the Microsoft Website (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/cloud-platform/windows-server-pricing) I should be able to run 2 Virtual Machines on the Hyper-V Host with Windows Server 2016 Standard. But my Virtual Machine isn't activated yet. When I try to enter the activation key which is activated on the host system, of course I'm getting the message, this License Key is already used.

I've got a License "Windows Server 2016 Standard 16 Core". My host system has got 1 Socket, 8 Cores and 16 Logical processors. Is it possible to activate the Windows on the VM with the same key? If yes, how can I do that? If no, what kind of license should I buy for the Virtual Machine?
