How to change screen resolution for mcr.microsoft.com/windows? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

A container based on the mcr.microsoft.com/windows:1809 image reports its screen resolution 1024x768. This is too low resolution for UI tests.

    How can I change it?

    Thanks,
    Igor

  • Greetings,

Would do mind to test Set-DisplayResolution?

  • Hi!

The Set-DisplayResolution cmdlet is not present on the system in the container:

    PS C:\> Get-Command Set-DisplayResolution
Get-Command : The term 'Set-DisplayResolution' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the
path is correct and try again.
    At line:1 char:1
    + Get-Command Set-DisplayResolution
    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

According to the documentation, this command belongs to the ServerCore module, but I can't find a way to install this module in the container.

I've checked a regular Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V instance and the Get-DisplayResolution / Set-DisplayResolution commands are there. It is the container where these commands are missing.

    Thanks,
    Igor
