Installation Failing

    Question

  • I am using Windows 8 64x and trying to install VS 2012 Ultimate with Blend onto my computer. However, when I try to install the installation fails as follows:

Visual Studio Core Features - Fatal error during installation

Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Compilers - Package failed

Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Compilers - ENU Resources - Package failed

Visual Studio Core Features - ENU - User canceled installation.

(which I didn't cancel the install)

I've tried installing/uninstalling numerous amounts of times and still can't seem to figure out what the problem is. Thank you for the help!

  • Hi,

About your issue,I need the installation log to analyze the error.

But I also could offer some suggestions. In most cases, it may be caused by not have enough permission, or your installation file may be corrupted.

If you used a web installer, please try downloading ISO file to install it.

Before you install it, I suggest you use this tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290 to verify hash of the ISO. Any discrepancy would indicate that the file was corrupted.

The sha1 value of ISO is “BA9DBBA6E333F0C703145DECB2900FE02E1A9E96”.

If you have used ISO file, please verify your ISO file.

If you are sure your ISO is correct, please follow these steps:

    1. Update your windows and disable Anti-Virus software.

    2.Clear your %temp% folder.

3.Run the setup file as administrator.

If the installation still fails, please use http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the latest installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://skydrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

    Regards.
