Biztalk 2006-R2 to Biztalk 2013 Migration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Upgrading to BizTalk Server 2013 directly from BizTalk Server 2006 R2 is not supported. If such an upgrade was to be attempted, this would have to happen in two stages:

    • Upgrade to BizTalk Server 2010 (Intermediate Configuration)  from BizTalk Server 2009/2006 R2 (Current Configuration)
    • Upgrade to BizTalk Server 2013 (Target Configuration)  from BizTalk Server 2010/2009 (Intermediate Configuration)

Is the above statement correct ?

  • I would rather go for an migration approach than upgrade to anything. This would give me some benefits like using new features/adapters of BizTalk 2013.

  • Thanks for your Reply.

Just to correct it...we will go for the migration only...wanted to understand that it will have two stages of migration.

    I have below questions

    Stage A:

    1) We need to migrate the BizTalk code from BT 2006 R2 to BT 2010 (Compile and Build the solution) in VS 2010

    2) We need to deploy the MSI/Binding in BizTalk 2010 environment ( Dev Box designed for BT 2010)

    Stage B:

    3) We need to again Compile and Build the BizTalk Solution from BT 2010 to BT 2013 in VS 2012

    4) We need to deploy the MSI/Binding in BT 2013 environment.
