Deploying SSRS Report with sql azure on Windows Azure cloud RRS feed

  • Hi,

    Can anyone tell me how to deploy SSRS Report with sql azure datasource on Windows Azure Cloud.

  • Hi Seema,

    You can't deploy SSRS reports to the cloud right now.  That should be in beta shortly, but Microsoft hasn't given us a release date yet.

    You can use SQL Azure as a data source for an on premise SSRS report.  Just make sure you use the right provider, and make sure you watch the amount of data that you pull, because data transfer charges will apply.

    Then , what is the alternative for Reports, so that , I can create/deploy it on Azure cloud.

  • Hi Seema,

    Well, if it's possible to wait, I would wait.  I really think you're going to see SSRS-Azure real soon.

    If you can't wait, then I think you'd need to create a report by hand in html/aspx using windows azure.

  • Another alternative is to use ReportViewer control in Windows Azure web role. This blog entry has more information on this.
