  • Guys, the best i could find is
    1. Install the damn thing.
    2. run 'msconfig' and in the startup tab, disable it.
    this will prevent it from taking resources and bugging you again.

  • Well i kept searching for info about this but there is very little known about this on the web.

    I only stumled on a deleted question at yahoo answers site (why would that be deleted???)

    here is the googlecached page, the question is all the way at the bottom:

  • Having exactly the same issue here....

    I don't know if it's because I have the Phillips Messenger Phones installed, or maybe a LifeCam??

    But yes, getting the pop up, but no link to the WLDM beta...  The link just takes you to a search page.

  • Whew...was beginning to wonder if this was only happening to me.

    No idea what it causing it to be triggered whenever I launch WLM, but download link does nothing for me either.

    It's working now!

    If you still can't get it, I've uploaded the set up file to SkyDrive: http://cid-06ba5a09ff313398.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Random%20Stuff/WLDMWWEN.msi

  • Well all i know is that its installed in my programs folder under windows live !

    And only started today after connecting my life chat headset

    think its a device manager just to help compatibility with your headsets

    mine has a one touch key to make a call ...  just helps with these features ?

    Gee

  • I don't have a headset like that and i don't want a one-touch call functionality.

    Why do i have to look at that annoying popup everytime? I'd like a checkmark to disable the harassing popup or sumthing.

    And also, why cant they build this ____ into messenger itself? Does it really have to be a separate install?

  • Well yeah it is stupid but that's Microsoft for you . If you just install it that makes it built in does it not ?
    The file is only 2.60MB so its not worth the worry

    It is of course the new name for windows live call ..

  • This sucker is popping up after I connected my Xbox 360 controller. No, I don't fancy the idea of voice chatting through the XBL headset, thank you very much.

  • Ok, late reply ftw. but here goes:

    Been bothered by this useless junk popup forever and after a bit of researching, here's how get rid of the popup(unless you actually want whatever "features" the Live Device Manager offers):

    Open notepad, and copy paste this into it:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MSNDeviceManager]
    "InstallDir"="%windir%"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSNDeviceManager]
    "InstallDir"="%windir%"

    Then save this file as something.reg (be sure to set file extension to all (*.*))

    Then double-click it, and import it, this should prevent the popup from ever occurring again.

    Don't know why I didn't think it before.
