Output Default Values when no Data in Stream RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a stream analytics job that reads data from an IOT Hub and outputs the data to Power BI. Everything works well except I'm trying to figure out how to fill in gaps in the data stream so Power BI real-time charts continue to think data is coming in.

For example, I have a light sensor that only sends data when it detects light. So most of the time it is in the dark reporting a value of 0. To prevent messages being sent to IOT unnecessarily and needlessly using our message allocation these 0 values are not sent.

The downside of this is SA has no data to output, which results in gaps in the real-time Power BI chart.  Is there a way for SA to output default values such as 0 when there is no data in the stream so that the Power BI chart thinks data is still coming in?

Alternatively, is there a way for Power BI to simply continue to display the last value it received, which would have been 0?

    Thanks
