Hotmail android app is inconsistent with mediaqueries? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

    I work for a company who creates and developes email campaigns, recently we have tried to create a template for responsive emails.

    I've created a mediaquery which looks like this:

    /* Android 320*480 ----------- */
        @media only screen

        and (max-device-width : 480px)
        {

            .mobilehide {
                display: none !important;
            }

            .width600px {
             width: 300px !important;
             max-width: 300px !important;
            }

            }

    I use a Samsung Galaxy GIO smartphone to test this on. The mediaquery targets the resolution perfectly. But Hotmail can't seem to handle it properly. When I first open the mail, it looks great, everything is in place. But when I go back and re-open it again, it won't show the .with600px on 300px anymore. It just puts them back into a 600px wrapper, so that they are next to eachother again. It shows the .mobilehide though!

    Anyone has any ideas?

    I've tested it with the new Outlook app, and that works perfectly. But it has a score of 2.5 out of 5 in the play store, so I think the Hotmail app is going to be used alot more.

    Greetings,

    Roy

  • That's the problem. The app is made by Microsoft, responsive mailing is supported in Gingerbread. That's why I'm posting it here, because there is something wrong with the app.
