Editing/Managing a TimeSheet via a Web Part RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a question about creating a Web Part that allows for Resources to enter their hours into TimeSheets.

I want to make sure I don't alter the Project Server Timesheet publishing sequence.

My question is, to use the web SVC TimeSheet to call SubmitTimesheetLines() which Database should my web part update to?  I

I went to My Tasks and updated some hours but I do not see them in [ProjectServer_Reporting].[dbo].[MSP_TimesheetActual]

    Are they in [ProjectServer_Reporting].[dbo].[MSP_Task]?

And are there any other functions I should call before I call SubmitTimesheetLines() like PrepareTimesheetLine()?

  • Good day.

As i know the sequence of timesheet filling is:

    1) Resource fills timesheet and saves it (not necessary submits it).

    2) Resource goes to My Tasks and do "Import Timesheet" and then clicks "Submit" on My Tasks page.

    3) Project owner sumbits changes from resources (via PWA or MS Project).

    4) Project owner publish project.

Then data entered by resource appears in reporting database.

  • Ignore my first question, let's go gack to the Standard PSI:

    1) I get a TimeSheetDataSet from the SVC TimeSheet call to ReadTimesheetByPeriod()

    2) It returns two important tables, one is Lines and the other is Actuals

    3) Is it possible to run a .Select() statement from C# that will get me the Actual hours on a given Date?  I can provide a Task GUID and a Date (Day of the Week format).
