Multiple references to the same database project RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need some help with database references.

    Here's some background:

    1. We have one database project that we deploy to multiple databases - one for each state.
    2. We have visualizations that use views to extract data from each state's database.
    3. Each state has slightly different logic in its version of the visualization views.
    4. As a result, we've created another database project that contains one schema for each state, and each view is created in its state schema

Here is where I need help.  The views each need to reference a specific state, but I'd like them to all reference the internal, generic database project.  Is this possible?

I know I can work around this by creating one DACPAC file for each state's database and use that for the database reference, but I'd like to avoid that extra step.  It would be much more efficient for all views to refer to the single DB project, translating the state-specific DB name to the single DB project name.

Let me know if anything is unclear.  Thanks in advance for your help!
