Can add-in cards support Metro-style apps? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an add-in card that plugs into a PCI slot.  This card exposes other always-connected devices that have unique container IDs.  Those devices have drivers that can expose restricted device interface classes that can communicate with Metro apps.  When the user installs those drivers, I can also install metadata that allows a Metro app to talk to these drivers using the device access APIs.  Does MS support this scenario?  Will users be able to download apps that can talk to these drivers from the store?

    Thanks!

  • Thunk Monkey,

Metro style device apps talking to PCI add in cards is  not a supported scenario for Windows 8.  However it is supported from desktop applications.
