o/s

Question

I have to install a o/s XP on my desktop in which I have installed before with the same disk a few times before, this time it won't pick up and run, it just sets there and does nothing. The boot sequence is correct and the hard drive is in the correct order, what could be wrong? Is it impossible for a file to be missing from a CD?
