Mirror SQL Database for TMS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, we are setting up a TMS (Tandberg Management System) in 4 different countries. The idea was to mirror the SQL database on servers in each country and these databases will be set to constantly incrementally mirror the main database. We would then set up a TMS application / Web server in each region that looks directly at the mirrored local TMS SQL database to provide the user with a local experience.

Is this possible? Can you work from more than 1 mirrored database at one time?

  • Hi Snorkel!

With SQL 2008R2 this is not possible, but when you look at SQL 2012 and the new AlwaysOn feature you will have at least partly the functionality. (The limitation is that the mirror copies can't be changed, only read.)

  • Perhaps you can take a snapshot database from that mirror to share with users locally?

  • @Uri: That doesn't help the problem of one mirror only...
