Is it possible to add second mail profile to SQL Server Agent RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using MSSQL 2008 enterprise version. We already have a mail profile "MailProfile1" which was configured on the SQL Server Agent Properties. Now we would like to add the second one "MailProfile2" so that some job's notification emails will be sent to "MailProfile1" and others to "MailProfile2". But on the SQL Server Agent Properties, I did not see any place where you are able to add another one. Does the MSSQL ONLY allow one mail profile for SQL Jobs? Thanks.

  • other side to receive the notification emails

But again, that's the sender E-Mail postbox, not the receiver. As receiver you use the SQL Server-Agent "Operators" and here you can add as many as you  like and you can assign for each Job a different Operator.

  • That's the Profile with which the e-mails will be send; why do you need here an additional one?

  • The company is in the process of "Divorce". So both sides do not want to let other side to receive the notification emails.

  • I agree with Olaf.

The Only difference is going to be recipients list. Why do you need to go for a other one.

  • you can create more operators (one operator can have multiple mail adresses) and configure each alert/job what operator do you want to notify.

We are using the same email address (dba@domain.com) for both FROM and TO. In that email account, there is a list of email addresses which the notification email is sent to. Can you share your lights on how to add the operators? Thank you.
