Optimal Performance of depth camera in Kinect v2 RRS feed

  • I know for a fact that for Kinect v1, depth sensor is specified by the manufacturer as having a valid operation from 1.2 meters to 3.5 meters, however, there are some literature that say the optimal performance at 1mm depth, increasing to more than 5 mm when less than 85cm or more than 120cm depth. I was wondering if anyone worked such measurement for Kinect v2?

  • Operational range of the v2 sensor is .5 to 4.5 meters, with extended depth out to 8 meters. Distance is in mm accuracy. I think someone in the community did some accuracy measurements, but I don't have that data.
