  • At the moment Blend for Visual Studio only supports Windows Store apps and Windows Phone apps when running it on Windows 8. There is however a preview available that supports Silverlight, WPF and Sketchflow. You can find that here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30702. Note that this is not intended for use in production.

Support for Silverlight and WPF on windows 7 will be coming back again with the upcoming SP2 of Visual Studio 2012. You can find a link to the download and read more about it over here: http://blendinsider.com/technical/announcing-visual-studio-2012-update-2-ctp-2013-01-30/

  • So the first link you provided is a demo? Not sure what the second link is....looks like a service pack announcment.

do I have to purchse a full version of Blend or will VS Pro 2012 eventually support Blend on Windows 7?

    Thanks for the clarifications.

  • The first link is the preview of what is possibly coming in the next release. According to this source (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/expression/jj154135) Windows 7 SP1 is supported.

You won't have to buy Blend separately, it has become part of the Visual Studio installation now.

  • Hopefully the next release will fix my issue in Windows 7. You are saying that Expression Blend 4 (and the like) are not the same as what is installed with VS2012 (Blend for Visual Studio)?

I have Blend now...it did install with Pro 2012...I assume the issue is not with Blend but with the unsupported operating system I am currently running. Windows 7 x64.

    Will wait and see.
