Setting up a Device Administrator

    Question

  • We are a small business using Microsoft Office ProPlus, Azure, and Windows 10 Pro.  I wish to be able to assign specified users Administrator access on all Windows 10 Pro devices within our company so that they can allow changes to be made to the computers. However, I do not wish to grant Global Administrator privileges. It appears Azure allows you to assign Limited Administrator privileges, and based on the Limited Administrator descriptions noted, I should choose Device Administrator. However, while there is description for Device Administrator listed in the Azure instructions, I do not see Device Administrator listed as an assignable option under the Limited Administrator options. Please advise how I can assign this Limited Administrator functionality to specified users. Thank you.

  • You may try using Azure AD PowerShell to assign device administrator role for the users.
You can refer to the documentation on Administrator Roles in Azure Active Directory and the Assigning multiple administrative roles to a user.
