Windows Embedded Standard Equivalent for Windows 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Folks,

We are using Windows Embedded Standard 7 and 8.1. We would like to know which is equivalent for WES in Windows 10.

Some website says equivalent flavor is Windows IoT enterprise. Some other says Windows IoT core.We got confused.

Please confirm us with the clear matrix of changes on Windows Embedded Standard in Windows 10.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Vignesh

  • Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB. It is most likely a "common" Windows 10 Enterprise, but licensing is different (for use on embedded devices only). The advantage of IoT are the Embedded Enabling Features (EEFs) like Wrtite Filters etc.

  • The road map is NT Embedded, XP Embedded, WES7, WES 8, Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry, and now Windows 10 IoT Enterprise. Here is a paper that explains the new offerings: http://www.annabooks.com/Articles/Articles_IoT10/Windows-10-IoT%20Rev1.3.pdf

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise is just a marketing name. The real name of the product is Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016.
