Run ShellExecute in LOB app

    Question

  • I know, the win32 API is restricted in Store Apps. However in my LOB app I would like to start the calc.exe from within the apps navbar. Since the app is only installed via Group Policy on the customers client PCs a reasonable level of trust into my app is a given.

So the question is: is there a way to execute ShellExecute(null, "open", "calc.exe", 0, 0, SW_SHOW) without it returning with ACCESS_DENIED failure? Some way of elevating the apps process or so?

NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined objects and unknown namespaces.
