MS Project 2016 Online Timeout when connected to Project Server 2016 Onprimse PWA.

Question

Issue : MS Project Pro 2016 Online session expires / Unable to login or access the server if the PWA is not open in web browser.

Repro:  Without opening the PWA (Onprimes) in browser, open MS Project Pro 2016 and login to PWA and Checkout a project then close the PWA web-page. try to save / publish or check in after 10-15 minutes.

Findings : User is unable to authenticate/login and previously checked out work is not saved to the server​

Many reasons for long processing time and probably need to work with SharePoint admins.

Check that there are enough resources (ie.memory, processing, disk space, etc)

Also, one that I run into many times for slow performance is the Virus protection in not properly configured.   SharePoint and project directories are normal exclude in the scans.

This is bug @ SharePoint 2016 authentication with ADFS. Fixed in SharePoint 2016 June 2017 CU.
