SOLVED: Embedded manifest causes client side soap extension not to run RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    I recently added an embedded manifest to our application for Vista compability. I require Admin privilages in this application for other reasons. I am also using a compression soap extension.

    I am using a simple manifest:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>

    <assembly xmlns="urnTongue Tiedchemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0">

    <trustInfo xmlns="urnTongue Tiedchemas-microsoft-com:asm.v2">

    <security>

    <requestedPrivileges>

    <requestedExecutionLevel level="requireAdministrator" uiAccess="false"/>

    </requestedPrivileges>

    </security>

    </trustInfo>

    </assembly>

    On Server 2003 EE with all of the latest updates, the soap extension is not run. No errors or exceptions. If I remove the manifest, all is well. I also tried "RunAs Admin" with the same results.

    On Windows XP and Vista it runs well.

    Any clues how to troubleshoot this?
