What's happening between "Buffering" and "Playing"? RRS feed

  • Used one of the Quickstarts as a springboard to make a on-demand streaming (mms:\\blah) player with start, stop, and pause. Put a TextBlock on the canvas to show the results of the MediaElement's CurrentStateChanged event. Everything is fine -- goes from Buffering to Playing, and then plays, but there's about a 5-6 second gap between the CurrentState being changed to "Playing" and the beginning of the stream actually playing. (The reason I'm interested in this gap is that I'm trying to put up a "Loading..." text block while the video is buffering, and take it down right as it begins to play, which I assumed would be when the CurrentState changed to "Playing".)

    Is this a BufferingTime-type of issue? Any other ideas? Thanks. Here's the URL:

    Please check the same with new version. It should look good because in latest release of silverlight it's improved when it's compare to beta 1.
