WVD - FSLogix Outlook Password Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the process of piloting WVD (W10 Multiuser) with FSlogix.

Seeing issues with Outlook when the profile moved between shared hosts. Seems like I have something wrong with FSLogix on AzureFiles. Its working for one user, but not others.

    Please advise,

  • Can you share a little more information about your configuration.  I would likely need to see some logs to be able to help.  Are you using FSLogix Profiles, Office containers or both?  Without more information I would guess that this has something to do with permissions on the Azure Files share.

  • we have the exact same issue ...

WVD, 2 x Windows 10 Deployed in Application Group w/Office 365 w/FSLogix redirected to Fileserver.

User logs on, profiledisc created, user logs on, gpo's work fine and all behaves 'correctly'.

we configure outlook (autodiscover via O365) and outlook starts.

user logs off and at next logon if they are redirected to another host all hell breaks loose.

outlook says; "password required". If we click the prompt the 'signon' bliks and dissapears.
E.g. Outlook does not work any more.

If we then remove profile (%appdata%\local\microsoft\outlook inkl. roaming) and create new profile and try to configure outlook it gives an error 'are you this user' blablabla...

Tried setting different regsettings but nothing helps also tried updating to newest Windows 1909 but to no avail.

if we however DELETE the entire VHD profile then we can configure outlook for that user again but only that way.

Thank you for this information.  Can you try to run the following powershell command for one of those users?

    Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Does this resolve the issue for that session?  If so I may have an idea about what is happening here.

  • Hi Brian

I'm seeing something similar to the Windows 10 VDI guys in regards to Outlook randomly requesting a password but not accepting it.  We have 4 x Server 2019 Std RDS Farm (all VMs) all fully patched. Running FSLogix 2.9.7237.48865. <o:p></o:p>

We are in the middle of a migration from an old SBS 2011 server. All staff members are on 365 with Outlook 365 connecting to the local Email DB. Since December 2019 all has been functioning perfectly logging into the RDS farm using FSLogix Profile disks. No problem with Office 365 credentials or accessing Email. I've just migrated two staff members to the Exchange 365 DB. All functions well for it seems like 24 hours then the next time they login Outlook asks for credentials to access 365s exchange server (365 creds are fine). The only way to sort this is by deleting their profile disks and recreate their profiles. To test if it’s the profile not saving credentials I’ve forced the account to login to another of the 4 RDS servers in the farm and confirmed that the profile loads without issue with full access to Outlook email so in that way it is not the same issue as the Windows 10 VDI guys.<o:p></o:p>

Will the powershell script you provided to the W10 VDI guys work in my environment?<o:p></o:p>

  • All sorted. This wasn't an FSLogix issue but more to do with the local AD and Azure AD. I ended up re-running the ADSync tool and re-creating the Single sign-on config. Since that point we've had no issues.
