converting logshipping database to Mirroring. RRS feed

  • Hi Team,

    one of our production box converting logshipping database  (MS SQL 2000) - 2008 database mirrioring.

     

    what are the steps we have to follow. i have read some articles logshipping with database mirriong but no use

     

    can you any body guide me 1st how can we migrate logshiping database (SQL 2000) - 2008 database mirroring.

     

    Migration databse 2000- 2008

     

    1. deattach and attach or take script .mdf,ldf files execute the script or take all backups and restore in 2008

    2. for users and logins we have some stored procedure we  will transfer with passwords

     

    after that these databases(logshipping database ) we have to implemented Database mirroring right

     

    if am wrong please correct me..

     

    waiting for valueble suggestions really appreciated those guys..

  • You can attach or restore the 2000 db at the 2008 server.  

    As far as I recall when restore the comparability level will be set to 100 and when you detach it remains 80. This is an important point to concider.

    Once that is done then set up Mirroring using win authentication if all machines are in the same domain (or there is a trust between the domains) otherwise need to use certificate.
