Cannot get WMDC to auto-launch in WINDOWS 7 x64 SP1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have lost about one month trying, retrying, re-retrying to get WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE CENTER installed and to successfully auto-launch upon connecting my mobile device (MC9090/MC9190)!!!!

I have compiled many, many articles from many, many forums that suggest a "solution" to this problem--all to NO avail.

    I have tried:

    • Removing the device from the DEVICE MANAGER
    • Uninstalling/Reinstalling the WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE CENTER
    • Allowing WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE CENTER to be auto-installed--upon connecting devices
    • Disconnecting/Reconnecting mobile device(s)
    • Using different mobile devices
    • Using different cradle for devices
    • Using different USB cords
    • Using different USB ports
    • Checking/Unchecking "Enable advanced network functionality"
    • Reinstalling WINDOWS

NONE of a combination of these actions seem to make any difference!!!!

Please help--I HAVE to get moving on my projects, and I'm "dead in the water!!!!"

  • Hi there,

Have you tested your device on other PC? to narrow down the issue to identify whether it is related to PC or your device..

  • Hi Anna,

Herein lies the reason why it is so difficult to find useful solutions pertaining to questions involving Microsoft products: Either, links are provided that are broken; or to other pages that provide links (broken); or to pages that have nothing to do with the subject matter.  Case-in-point, the link that you provided, (harmlessly enough), points to the WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE CENTER "fanfare" page, that ultimately provides a link--to the WINDOWS PHONE "fanfare" page.  Whole different "animal!"

Be that as it may, I have downloaded, installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, etc., this file, from Microsoft support--all to NO avail.  I know, and have seen many accolades about what this application is SUPPOSED to do, but that by itself, does me no good.

    Thanks, anyway!

  • Hello,

I had a similar issue recently with a WinCE device, on a PC with Win8 x64.

I've solved the problem installing THIS version of WMDC.

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3182

I'm sure that you already try this, but who can say....

In particular I noticed that after install I continue to have problem, but after a reboot al the drivers was known and working.

    Let me know what's happen!

    Regards

    Marco
