Drag and Drop File on windows Explorer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I wonder how can I add new functionality dragging and dropping files using File Explorer on Windows 7.

Selecting one or more files you can:
    a) right-clicking open the context-menu
    b) dragging the file(s) into a different folder moving/copying it.
Dropping file onto another file the dragging operation is empty.

My idea is adding an event drop target for a specified file, for example image file .jpg, and run code between dragged files.

In register HKEY_CLASS_ROOT there is for each extension file:
    a) folder OpenWithList for the context-menu
    b) Shell folder with subfolders for adding handlers, properties, commands or more

I think to add a Drop Target register or a command register to start a .exe file.

    Is it a praticable idea?
Do I know more about registers?
There is an event arg for the source and target file?

    Can you sketch the code?

    Thanks in advance,
