how to grab UDP/TCP packets from incoming lan data... RRS feed

  • Question

  • So I am thinking of connecting OV6620 camera to my Atmel 32 bit chip which will then stream out UDP video (or bmp frames) via its ethernet port pins. I am going to connect this ethernet pins via rj45 plug to my laptop... my idea is to write a GUI using visual c++ (express) to grab these incoming packets (UDP - for image data, TCP - for control) display it on the software picturebox.

Could someone suggest how I could go about this 'gabbing' incoming ethernet packets? something to do with sockets?? i am confused :( can visual c++ 2008 do this?

you can see essentially this is an IP camera....

  • Use the System::Net::Socket class.  UdpClient and TcpListener are helpful too.
