TFS Fail: Spawn build failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • We got one error during the whole build process. No other information was found in the build log. Any clues?

     GetBuildProperties TeamFoundationServerUrl="http://tfs:8080/tfs/tfs" BuildUri="vstfs:///Build/Build/90947"
FAIL: Spawn build failed 1 : error project Release Spawn,
         FAIL 01: error SetBuildProperties TeamFoundationServerUrl="http://tfs:8080/tfs" BuildUri="vstfs:///Build/Build/90947" CompilationStatus="Failed" Status="None" TestStatus="Unknown"

PS: We are using the TFS 2010.

    Any feedback is welcome. Thanks.

  • Hi Laofo,

    Thanks for your post.

In order to resolve this issue, I want to confirm some information with you:

1        Try to create a new default project(such as WinForm App) with any modifies, then build it using the Team Build, still occur the same error?

2        Try to build your solution using VS(right-click and Build), can build completely?(both client and Build machine)

3        Try to build your solution using MS Build, can build completely? (both client and Build machine)

4        Usually, the TFS Server Url is: http://servername:8080/tfs, but in your log, it’s http://tfs:8080/tfs/tfs, that’s strange, please confirm that.

5        Could you please provided the detailed information about your Build Definition and Build Template, the steps that created the Build Definition and which Build Template be used?

6        When you queue the Build Definition to build your project, in the Queue Build “xx” dialog box>>click Parameters tab, set the Logging Verbosity field’s value to Diagnostic, then perform the build. If build occurs the error, check the build log and share here.

7        Install the TFS Power Tools 2010, then click Start>> All Programs>> Microsoft TFS Power Tools 2010>> Best Practices Analyzer to scan the TFS installation. To download TFS Power Tools 2010 at: http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/c255a1e4-04ba-4f68-8f4e-cd473d6b971f/  or go to Tools menu in our VS2010, and open Extension Manager… to download  and install.
