Terms - use of

Question

Coming from a SP 2007 enviroment where content types was made and a (new) pagelayout was attached, to "classify" e.g News pages so it was possible to make the CQWP roll-up a specific content/news type. 

 

As I can read various places - I can accomplish the same thing in SP 2010 by creating a News Term Set, and subtype news Terms and then on the publishing site document library add the term to a specific pagelayout e.g. articleleft by adding a column as managed metadata and set the default value here to subnewstype1?

 

Can someone verify this? - and is that the way to do the segmentation/category split in SP2010 so the CQWP can roll-up the specific news?

Hi,

Yes, but you would still use a Content Type but instead of using a Lookup or Choice Column type use the Managed Metadata type to use values from a Term Set...

thanks for your reply... :)

But couldn't I just attach the subnews term value to the e.g.  article right page layout as a Managed Metadata column type so I don't have to copy the articleleft pagelayout rename it, and then also create the content type subnews?
