populate field based on selection in dropdown RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I hope someone is able to help me with this project.

    I have 2 questions,  the first is:

    Is there a way to make it so a date picker or some other method,  allows you to only select a month?
    For example,  you want to select 'August'

    The next question I have goes along with the first.

    Is it possible once a month has been select,  have 3 text boxes auto populate with the next 3 months names?

    Here is an example of what I've been asked to do:

    A user needs to submit a form.
    In the datepicker/dropdown whatever method is used.   They select August

    Then elsewhere in the form,   3 text boxes auto fill with

    September

    user inputs data for this month:

    October

    User inputs data for this month

    November

    User inputs data for this month

    Anyone know how to make those fields autofill based on the month the user selected?

  • OK,

    I've decided to use a dropdown for the months,  but I still cannot figure out how to update the text boxes with the next 3 months names.

    Here is what I need to happen,  on the form I have the dropdown where the user selects a month.

    There are 3 sections in the form,  once they make a select I want the text boxes to fill with the next 3 month names.

    Can you use if else/if statements in Infopath in the default value option of a field?  So do something like this

    if (dropdownfield = January)

    default value == February

    else if (dropdownfield = Februar)

    default value == March

    Or is there way to do this with an .xml file?

    I really need help with this, and appreciate any advise anyone has.

    Thanks!

  • I found that I can apply a rule to the drop down,  and have it set the value of a field to whatever I need it to be.

    But there has to be a more efficient way to do this,  because I'll need to have 12 rules for each text box I wanted updated.   So with 3 text boxes,  36 rules for updating on my dropdown field.   That seems crazy,  is there a better way to do this?

    Is the method I came up with the only way to do this?
