How to link resources in today's (2015) preview portal?

Question

I cannot find how to link resources in the preview portal. In the older portal there was a "menu" link at the top of a Web App view called "Linked Resources".
Where do I find it in the new one?

Hello IanW001,
I would like you to understand that the linked resource is available in the classic portal so that the portal would alert you if you are trying to delete the website. The reference would be only limited to portal and it is not necessary that you need to link resource to be able to use it with the website. Please note that this is currently not available in the preview portal. I was also able to figure out that the Connection string has nothing to do with this.
Thanks,

Hello IanW001,
You should be able to link your database resource from the Application setting by adding the connection string. Please make sure that you have your database and the website in the same resource group.
Please refer to the screen shot below:Thanks,

Thanks, Syed.
Just to be sure I understand: The concept of explicitly linking resources, as we do in the current non-preview interface, and which is separate from providing connection strings (as answered here) has been deprecated? And now in the new UI we just provide connection strings and they will then show up as in the "Essentials" section as a linked database/resource?
To the Azure team: this needs to be communicated within the UI somewhere. Right now we are left to hunt for it with no clue that it does not exist anymore.
