Oracle Edit table properties lead to ORA-01005: null password given: logon denied RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

I'm able to download data using PowerPivot from our Oracle 11g server using all three data provider methods. The SQL is for this case is very simple:

    "select * from aste.a_kunta"

The query defined using the Table Import Wizard functions correctly and I get all the data loaded into PowerPivot.

In the next step I got to Design > Table properties, and modify the query to:

    "select * from aste.a_kunta where lakkaamis_pvm = to_date('31.12.9999', 'DD.MM.YYYY')

The resulting in all three data provider cases is as follows:

    --
    -- OLEDB-provider (OraOLEDB.Oracle)
    --
OLE DB or ODBC error: ORA-01005: on annettu tyhjä salasana: sisäänkirjaus estetty.

    ---

This procedure worked in the previous version of PowerPivot, at least I have been using it many times.

It seems that this error emerged after I did a reinstall and cleanup of my PowerPivot installation directory as suggested in the following workaround:

    http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/667845/powerpivot-for-excel

    Any suggestion would be welcome!

    Regards!

    Kai
