SSMA Logs RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way of dumping error messages and information message from SQL Server Migration Assistant to a text file ?

It's kind of difficult to review in SSMA when you have a lot of issues.  I notice there's a lot of XML file in the report. Is there a way to convert these into a simple .txt file?

  • Hi,

After the migration finishs, a migration status windows pops up and shows the progress SSMA makes in migrating the database from the original platform to SQL Server. The Migration Status screen shows you the status of the converted objects. Note the errors, warnings and informational messages.

These information are stored in \SSMAProjects\SqlMigrationname\report folder as some XML files as you can see. They were generated by SQL Server Migration Assistant and I did not see any option to configure the log files format.
