Unable to launch Advanced Print Setting Experience for Metro Style Device App for printers.

    Question

  • Unable to launch Advanced Print Setting Experience for Metro Style Device App for printers.

Verified that device metadata is correct because metadatacache is showing all xmls

(DeviceInfo, SoftwareInfo, WindowsInfo & PackageInfo.xml). EventViewer for DMRC is not giving any error & only following is logged

DMRC was queried for type 'Hardware Id (display object)' with lookup key 'PRINTENUM\{c584a7ad-43d1-4ea0-b09a-d1c892092060}'

    What possibly could be wrong?

    Thanks

  • boeyeb,

Right click on the print queue in D&P and click properties.
1.Go to the hardware tab, then click Properties on the relevant entry. Depending on how the printer was installed, this could be a print queue or a printer type entry.
2.Go to details, then choose HardwareIDs. You should find the printer HWID in this list (it will be based on a 1284ID, so it will be generally plaintext, eg wsdprint\ManufacturerMode_hash321)
3.Ensure that ID is in the device metadata
