Trying to publish my app for free, impossible? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I´ve added my app to the market, but in the "Pricing" "Base price" this is 0.00 (grayed out). This is just as I want it to be (free). But I get an error that says "You’ll need to provide your tax or bank info (or both) if you want to submit paid apps.".

But I don´t want to provide my tax or bank info, as I want my app to be free!

    What am I doing wrong?

  • What you see is not an error message, as it is actually just a notification stating that before you can submit paid apps, you'd first need to provide bank or tax info. This will not affect your app, and you can continue to submit free apps.

    Hope this helps.

  • Which country are you from? Though I seriously doubt if there can be a case where a country is not allowed to submit free apps (since there are examples of countries where paid apps are not possible) but still let the audience know which country u r from please?

  • Hi! I'm from Sweden. Here is a screenshot of how it looks. I simply cannot select the "0.00" to anything else (like a "Free option", even though I thought 0.00 is the same as free). And the app won´t get published because of the error "You'll need to provide your tax or bakn info (or both) etc..."

  • Just a thought. Could this be due to a possible Java Script glitch? Can you try a different browser?

  • Have tried it with both Chrome and Internet Explorer 9, with the same result :(

  • I am sorry to hear that. On the other hand your thoughts are vary valid since I can confirm that I was able to publish a free app without creating my tax profile and just as you mentioned I had the dropdown showing 0.00.

I'll leave for the concerned authorities (any if reading) to respond any further on that

  • Thank you for your time and concern.

I hope this will get straightened out as quick as possible. Haven't found any way to contact any "official", I guess all I can hope for is that they read this thread.

  • I submitted my tax info literally minutes before and I had the same problem.  The next day I could then set the price.

This is not the correct way to do it, but you can edit the html to remove the disabled attribute on that combo box and actually set a price before the tax forms have completed.  Just give it time or failing that raise a support ticket (which is what I did but it had already resolved itself before they got back to me the next day).
