HDInsight - How to add new users in Hue? RRS feed

Answers

  • Hi Raven,

Unfortunately, Hue on HDInsight doesn’t support adding more users.

Note: When you log in for the first time, you will be prompted to create an account to log in to the Hue portal. The credentials you specify here will be limited to the portal and are not related to the admin or SSH user credentials you specified while provision the cluster.

For more details, refer “Use Hue with HDInsight clusters”.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Raven,

Yes, you can add users in Cloudera, but you cannot add users in HDInsight.

Hue is a suite of applications that provide web-based access to CDH components and a platform for building custom applications. And Hue is a gateway to CDH cluster services such as Hue application and both have separate permissions.

Note: Hue is not officially supported on Azure HDInsight components.

It is very unfortunate that this is a limitation by design.

    Hope this helps.

  • While regular Hue supports adding new users, I wonder why HDInsights is having such a limitation?

We were planning to use Hue as the workbench on our HDInsight cluster data, but HDInsight Hue does not provide multi-user support is definitely a road-blocker for us, since we cannot share the first user (i.e. super-admin) credentials with all users.

Can you please let me know whether you recommend any other tool similar to Hue for our requirement? Even if we have to set it up manually in the clusters we are fine.
