Sorting Global Address list by last email sent date using VBA RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have over 600 entries in my Outlook 2007 global address list. About 100 of these are group/distribution lists.  I would like to identify all contact entries that have not been sent an email in the past year.

Prefer to have the list sorted by "last sent date" and by "sent from"

    Thanks

    Scott

  • Exchange doesn't track this information on groups a few workarounds people have used over the years is to create a public folder (or mailbox) that will only accept email from the distribution lists, add it to the distribution lists you want it track.

Message Tracking is something you can also use however by default the logs will only be keep for around 30 days so you should have 30 days of history you can query on if you use the Exchange Management Shell get-MessageTrackinglog cmlet

    Get-MessageTrackingLog -EventID Expand | Group RelatedRecipientAddress | ft count,name

The above will give you a list of all distribution groups used in the period for which you have message tracking logs.

    cheers
