How to find out the distribution RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I have made a program that uses SQL CE 3.5.
I do not know what distribution files I need for the different PDAs.
Can anybody tel me the differences among the different distributions of SQL CE 3.5?
    Thanks

  • If the PDA runs Windows CE 4.2 (Window Mobile 2003) use the wce4 cab files, if the PDA runs Windows CE 5.x (Windows Mobile 5.0) use the wce5 files in the folder:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5\Devices\wce500\armv4i

You can use the .ppc. cab files as follows:
    sqlce.ppc.wce5.armv4i.CAB (Core files, required)
sqlce.repl.ppc.wce5.armv4i.CAB (Replication and other files, recommended)
    sqlce.dev.ENU.ppc.wce5.armv4i.CAB (Query Analyzer, optional)

  • The PPC prefix means Pocket PC, ie. Windows Mobile. The cab file without ppc is for Custom Windows CE 5.0 based devices, not for Windows Mobile.
