Corrupt install.wim file in Windows 7 or 8 install from USB stick SOLVED!! RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Lots of people had this problem.  I used Virtual Clonedrive to mount the .iso and copied the install files to a bootable USB.  I solved the problem of the corrupt install.wim file by deleting the install.wim on the jump drive, opening a command prompt and using xcopy/J . Xcopy-help suggests using the /j switch when copying large files.

It worked for me!  Please pass it on.
