Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Verfication Failed when installing TurboTax 2009 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Received this VERFICATION error when attempting to load TurboTax.  It pointed me to two different HTML files within TurboTax:

Tried loading this on Windows XP SP2.  when following both of these documents, I upgraded the SP3 thinking this would help. No Luck, same error.

Miscrosoft support tried with Microsoft assist to de-install re-install all .Net's that were on my laptop.  All applied OK but when I tried to run express updates from Microsoft's download page the upgrade for 3.5 SP1 FAILS.  (KB963707)  I'm now awaiting a call back from Escalated Microsoft Technical Support as TurboTax 2009 needs .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 so you can install the software.

Went into control panel each time it failed, found 3.5 sp1 and repaired it but still get the same message after I try the update again.

Yesterday Microsoft support even tried deleting registry entries in the hope this would help but received the same error.

  • Hi RussRetiree,

    Thank you for your post.

Could you please help me to try the following steps to handle this scenario?

    - Download .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (Full Package) with Administrator Privilege
Note: You can try some download manager software to help downloading.
    - Use Cleanup tool to clear the failed installation of .NET Framework 3.5 >> 3.0 >> 2.0 in order
    - Run the installer to install .NET 3.5 with SP1

If the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is installed but TurboTax 2009 can fail to install because it thinks the .NET Framework is not installed, please check the following helpful blog:
(Please see the part "What to do if the above doesn’t help")

Hope this helps! If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.

    Best regards,
    Yichun Chen
