I am new to windows phone development. I am planning to learn windows phone 7 development but i have heard that coming windows phone 8 development approach will be different from windows phone 7. I am really confused what should i learn windows
phone 7 or 8 because both are new for me.

As Harlequin points out, the latest Windows Phone version is 7.5. I don't believe anything has been announced yet about newer versions.

#2 - There's no info on Windows Phone 8, so just keep developing for Windows Phone 7 as I highly doubt WP8 won't be able to run WP7 apps. That would kill the WIndows Phone ecosystem if that were true.
