How to find actual method in assembly file through ILDASM ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am interested in seeing the brief definition of Fill method present in OracleDataAdapter class in System.Data.OracleClient Namespace (which is present in System.Data.OracleClient assembly file).

For that i opened ildasm and browsed the System.Data.OracleClient assembly file . There i found System.Data.OracleClient.OracleDataAdapter class.

But inside that class i am unable to find Fill method .I am totally surprised , that why it is not present there ?

And from my project i am using Fill method , then why Fill method is not shown by ildasm ?

    Please help .

  • Hello,

I found the answer .Fill method is not defined in System.Data.OracleClient Assembly file , it is infact defined in System.Data assembly .

Now, OracleDataAdapter inherits from System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter which actually implements the functionality of Fill method. Infact not only fill method but many more.So this method is called when a Fill method on OracleDataAdapter object is called .
