VS 2012 Professional Database Connection to Azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • My problem is Visual Studio 2012 continue to use the local database for some reason instead of the database I specified in the Default connection string which points to a database hosted on Windows Azure.

The error message I get when I attempt to login with a user I have  saved in the aspnetdb is dbo.User does not exist.  The dbo.User table is defined in the localdb but not in the aspnetdb located on Azure.  The aspnetdb User table on windows Azure has the default table name with the aspnet prefix.  Thus it seems to me that my application is looking for the aspnetdb tables stored locally and not on Windows Azure.

    this is my connection string "Server=tcp:owedxt2leg.database.windows.net,1433;Database=aspnetdb;User ID={my userid};Password={my password};Trusted_Connection=False;Encrypt=True;Connection Timeout=30;"

Answers

  • so the table names are different between the databases? dbo.User vs dbo.aspnet_user?

are you using the membership provider?

if the error says "dbo.User" does not exists, then you were able to connect to the database actually.

it has nothing to do with your connection string, it has something to do with the query.
