VMM server status "Not Connected" in ASR, where in VMM it is registered RRS feed

    Hello all,

We use ASR for replication between 2 datacenters. Both sites have a VMM server which is registered to our ASR vault CCF-AM3-ASR. Now for some days, the replica site shows that is not connected. I updated the agent to the latest version, restarted the VMM server but still (even after refreshing the server in ASR) it doesn't come up. There are no error details. In the VMM console it shows that the VMM server is registered with the Azure Site Recovery service with no errors.

    How can I troubleshoot this?

    Regards.

  • We cannot ignore the message: Creating and deletling replication items is now not possible.

In the meantime we found the solution: re-registering the Server did the trick (in ASR add a new server to retreave a registration key, import the key by starting the agent installer on the server and entering the key when asked for).

  • Please ensure these services are running:

    • On the Hyper-V host, check that the Virtual Machine Management service, the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent, and the WMI Provider Host service are running.
    • On the VMM server, ensure that the System Center Virtual Machine Manager Service is running.

    Hello SadiqhAhmed,

The services are running (and for your information: the vms are still being replicated from production to replication site so the reference document is not relevant in this case. The Hyper-V / VMM replication is working, only ASR shows the replica site as disconnected. There are no other errors seen in ASR, e.g. all replicated VMs show healthy.

  • If replication is working as expected, you're good to ignore the message. It could be a portal refresh or backend issue.
