No menus in VS2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed my VS2010 - perfectly working on a Windox XP machine (x86) - onto a x64 quadcore one with Windows 7.

No menus display. Only tool bars.

Is this normal in windows 7 ?

Is it a configuration issue ?

    Thanks for any help.

    Livio.

  • Hello,

I don’t think it should be an expected result. It seems to be IDE issue. Please consider the following lists of items that we can try.

    1. If we disable Add-ins (e.g. “Tools” | “Add-in Manager”) and run “devenv.exe /safemode”, do we still have the problem? This can eliminate the possibility that third party Add-ins are causing problems.

    2. If we use “devenv.exe /resetsettings”, does it solve the problem? It restores Visual Studio default settings.

    3. If the problem remains, we can use Visual Studio Setup Wizard (via Control Panel) to repair Visual Studio. It can restore the Visual Studio Installation into its original state.

    4. Some graph card may cause the UI displaying issue, please double if you are using the graph card listed in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/ff716700, if so, disable the HW rendering to see if you still have the problem.

    Regards,

    Yi

  • Nope, that's certainly not normal.  Do you have any third party extensions/AddIns installed or is this just a stock 2010 fresh install?
